Tips to extend your iPhone 4S battery life

iPhone 4S the trend setter on the Smartphones world, as the release of iPhone 4S was the record and its massive popularity has created a great success for Apple. But as the growing iPhone 4S consumers are complaining about their brand spanking new iPhone 4S’s battery draining out in just a couple of hours on standby.

iPhone 3G/4 is having 300 hrs of standby, while Apple rates the battery inside the iPhone 4S as having up to 200 hrs of standby. That by itself seems a huge setback to the battery backup. More over some of the iPhone 4S adopters have reported that their 4S battery dies even in an 8-hour workday schedule.
If you have got your iPhone 4S and distress the same iOS 5 battery annoyance, check the below tips which may help:
  • Turn off anything you reckon unworthy and are not constantly used.
a>     Bluetooth:  It is low-powered one in iPhone 4S.However, leaving it on will surely suck the          battery out.
b>    Wi-Fi:  when you are not connected to a particular network turn it off.
c>     Location services:  Apple’s use of location services is deeply integrated into the iPhone 4S and  iOS, but some others have suggested that is consuming too much battery power. Just launch settings> location services and browse through the various apps using the iPhone’s location. The option to turn it off for some apps but not others is there for a reason; use it.
d>    Setting time zone: It appears that ‘Setting Time Zone’ function in iOS 5 can lead to a good    number of power drain because the device is repeatedly polling the user’s location in order to set the time zone based on their current location. If you’re not in travelling, just switch it off. Tests have been made on different iPhone models, and all have reported drastically improved battery life after switching “Setting Time Zone” off. Users that have turned off the Time Zone feature, as well as many other location functions of the phone, have reported vastly improved battery life on the iPhone 4S as well as other iPhones that have upgraded to iOS 5. To disable this functionality, go to the Settings, to Location Services, System Services and turn off the ‘Setting Time Zone’ option.
e>    Vibration: if your iPhone is on vibration and you constantly receive calls, messages and alerts   then it will drain the battery. So turn it off to save your battery.
f>      Cellular Data: if your cell reception is not good anywhere, you can turn off cellular Data when    not required. Turn it off in settings by selecting general and then network.
g>     Push Data: Checking new mails through the push data feature may be quite convenient, but even that causes a loss of battery life. Turn it off in setting, selecting mail, contacts, and calendars then fetch new data.
h>    Notifications: Calendar in the notification center has been reported to suck the phone battery life. Turn off specific or all app notifications in the notification center to enjoy a longer battery life.
  • Re-Add email accounts:  Some of the iPhone users have reported that removing their email accounts and re-adding them has also helped. Delete email accounts (Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Account Name > Delete Account), and then re-add email accounts (Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account)
  • Reduce Brightness of screen: keep your screen little bit dimmer because the brightness requires more battery.
  • Get your auto lock sooner: To remain your battery life better set your iPhone to automatically go to sleep and there is a feature called “Auto-lock”
  • Keep Your iPhone 4 Cool: iPhone 4 battery drains quicker when it gets hotter. Keep the phone out of the sun and/or heat. Don’t keep your iPhone in your pocket or any other tight spaces. It will help to keep your iPhone for cool and extend your battery life.
  • Try Charge Cycle: Be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month: charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down.
  • Buy an Extended Life Battery Case: Battery Cases and Portable Solar Chargers are highly recommended. Battery cases will add extra battery life to your iPhone 4 along with protecting it. While, charging your iPhone through solar chargers is also a practical and environmental solution for you.

Apple claims that the battery life of the 4S is a bit improved over the 4, and we don’t agree. With heavy use, expect to barely get through a day.
