How to Jailbreak iOS 5 [iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad and iPod touch]
Here is a guide on how to jailbreak iOS 5, iPhone3GS, iPhone 4, original iPad, and you iPod touch 3G and 4G. The redsn0w tool can jailbreak iOS 5 tethered. If you do not know what a tethered boot is, it means that you will have to plug your device on to your mac or computer each time it reboots to make it a tethered boot from redsn0w. Here are the steps to do so.
Before you start up with jailbreak, make sure that you have downloaded all the requirements mentioned below:
*iTunes 10.5 for Mac or Windows
*iOS 5 for your iPad, iPhone 4 or iPod touch
*Redsn0w 0.9.9b4. If you manage to get Redsnow 0.9.9b5 you can skip the step 2 of this tutorial.
Step 1
Connect the device which you like to jailbreak and sync it with iTunes and restore to iOS 5.
Step 2
Open redsn0w and click on extras and select the IPSW and point it to the iOS 5 IPSW file.
Step 3
Hit back and jailbreak and then check on install Cydia.
Step 4
Follow on-screen instructions and get your device into DFU mode.
Step 5
Once you install few important exploits your device will be jailbroken within few minutes. Once jailbroken a white Cydia icon appears. You will now need a tethered boot to get your device working. Also in future if you wish to reboot your device, you should go for a tethered boot itself.

Step 1
Open redsn0w and click on Extras and then Click on Just Boot.
Step 2
Click on Next and follow the onscreen instructions to get your device in DFU mode. Once you do this you will be able to open your device.
Note: This jailbreak does not support iPad 2.

How to preserve iPhone 4 baseband while upgrading to iOS 5
If you are planning to upgrade to iOS 5 from your unlocked iOS 4.X.X, you will have to preserve your iPhone 4 baseband in order to keep your unlock. Here are the steps on how to preserve your iPhone 4 baseband while you upgrade to iOS 5. Just follow the instructions and the baseband will be saved for you. To do this you will need to have downloaded iOS 5, iTunes 10.5 and Redsnow 0.9.9b5.
Step 1
Tether your iPhone to your computer and open Redsn0w 0.9.9b5
Step 2
Select Extras and then choose Custom IPSW to create pre-jailbroken custom firmware.
Step 3
Once you do this Redsn0w will creating your custom IPSW and it will be available to you in few minutes.
Step 4
Select “Pwned DFU” from Redsn0w once you get your firmware.
Step 5
Now bring your iPhone into DFU mode. Follow the instructions onscreen to do so.
Step 6
Once your phone comes into DFU mode, close Redsn0w. Once you close it, open iTunes 10.5 which is already downloaded. You phone should now be in recovery mode.
Step 7
Now hold the option key on your Mac and hit on Restore. Point iTunes into your iPhone 4 Custom iOS 5 IPSW which will begin with NO_BB.
[WARNING: do not select the stock one as you will lose Your unlock.]
Your iPhone is now in preserved baseband and you will be able to unlock your iPhone 4 using the Ultrasn0w guide.
