How to Print Directions from the Maps app in iOS5
Here are some of the hints and tips for iOS 5.Having the Maps app on the iPhone is a lifesaver for me. Not only does it help me navigate my way around places I don’t know, but it’ll also tell me how to get there when I leave the house.
However, trying to read directions from an iPhone while driving isn’t ideal, and it’s certainly not safe. Fortunately, iOS 5 allows you to print your directions from directly within the Maps app as long as you have a printer compatible with AirPrint. Here’s how!
To do this, open up the built-in Maps app and begin by tapping the ‘Directions’ button at the bottom. By default, your directions will automatically start from your current location, and the app will assume you’re driving a car. But you can change these if necessary.
Once you’ve told the app where you want to go, simply hit the ‘Route’ button in the top right-hand corner. The app will then calculate your route and present you with your directions.
Now tap the options button in the bottom right-hand corner. Your map will curl up and you’ll find there’s a ‘Print’ button underneath — tap this!
Now you can select your printer. It must be compatible with AirPrint or your iPhone will not find it. However, you can use an application such as Printopia on your Mac to connect to standard printers.
Once you’ve selected your printer and the number of copies you’d like to print, simply hit the print button and your directions will be on their way.

Summary: Apple has issued a statement clarifying reports that it will remove carrier IQ completely in a future software update.
Carrier IQ, the mobile phone logging software that is able to transmit data back to carriers, Apple has now stopped supporting the Carrier IQ with iOS 5 in most of its products such as the iPhone 4S and that it will completely remove the software in a future updates.
The complete statement is as follows :
We stopped supporting CarrierIQ with iOS 5 in most of our products and will eliminate it completely in a future updates on software. With any diagnostic data directed to Apple, customers must actively opt-in to share this info, and if they do, the data is sent in a nameless and encoded from and does not include any personal info. We not ever record personal info or messages or keystrokes for diagnostic data and we don’t have plans to do so.
Earlier reports are the evidence of that Carrier IQ has been able to seizure information more significantly, including keystrokes and other extremely sensitive info, on Android than on iOS.
Researches on Carrier IQ’s functionality on iOS says that any transmission of info has been limited to phone call and locality info, but as per todays issued statement by Apple suggests that the company has even stopped using that info through Carrier IQ, even though company itself collects their own anonymized and encrypted information from devices except users have turned off the diagnostics reporting functionality.

The Beatles iPad app launching Thursday, digital replicas of Rolling Stone and US Weekly magazines in the works
Wenner Media, well known for its music and politics every fortnight Rolling Stone, will roll out digital replicas of both the Rolling Stone and US Weekly magazines for Apple’s iPad by early 2012. The dead tree digital versions complements will apparently shy away from bells’n toots. Moreover, the editor will release the Beatles book app for iPad this Thursday, 1st December 2011.
A buddy to The Beatles: The Ultimate Album-by-Album Guide book that approached this summer, the app is basically repurposes print content and sports ample of the material from the Beatles’ book, MocoNews.net reports. And while we are at the Beatles, it presents as part of the Apple Records settlement Yoko Ono got to copy Apple’s website look and feel.
Amusingly, it was not that long ago that, the co-founder of Wenner Media Jann Wenner, lessened digital magazines as a fad. In a May AdAge meeting Wenner called out other publishers for scrambling to release tablet apps, painting the trend as “sheer insanity and insecurity and fear”. Perhaps the achievement of iOS 5 Newsstand prompted him to reconsider his stance? Last year, Wenner also organized a protest of sorts by running the magazine industry ad campaign that had promoted the “power of print”.

Here is out summary of the new devices found in iOS 5.1:
-The Sixth-generation iPhone:
Situated deep inside the file system of iOS 5.1 is a reference to an iPhone 5,1. As clarified yesterday, the jump from 4, 1 to 5, 1 represents a huge leap and of course a major internal change which means that iPhone 5/6 would come with a brand new processor. The expected external changes would be a 4 inch display with a new aluminum casing. The A6 in all prospects.

How to Shoot Photos with your iPhone Using your headphones or Bluetooth Headset
One of the major developments for iOS 5 was done in the area of photography. This is a great trick. It seems recognizable, but we never assumed that we can use the Volume Up button on your head phones cable or Bluetooth headset to take a picture with your iPhone.
It is pretty simple to take iPhone photo using headphones or Bluetooth headset, where your open the camera app, just connect your headphone cable with volume control or couple your Bluetooth set, and presto, now you can able to take photos by clicking the volume up button remotely.
The trick is perfect for taking photos on the go without having to use a camera app with a time. Simply use a Gorilla Pod to point your iPhone and Bluetooth as a clicker. And just I can’t wait to get into the underpass nowadays to try the cable technique.
I hope it won’t be late before someone use of this one-button shutter device for their iPhone photo.

Jailbreakers want to sidestep Apple, take your iOS device crash reports to find new exploits
The well –known jailbreak development team Chronic Dev, yesterday posted a blog regarding the work they have been doing on a proper jailbreak for iOS 5. The team says that Apple fixed the jailbreak-prone deeds found in iOS 5 beats with the issue of the golden master build in the month of October. Apparently, this becoming an obstacle in group's plan of releasing an iOS 5 jailbreak and is also an upset for those looking to add some tweaks to their iOS 5 devices.
The team explains that Apple uses their iTunes-based crash reporting system to discover jailbreak exploits before they are released into the wild. To outcome losing exploits in the future, the Chronic Dev group has revealed a bold move: they want to sidestep Apple, install software onto your system and re-route crash reports to the jailbreak development team. Doing this will permit the team to pinpoint areas in the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch operating system that are prime for jailbreak exploits. The team Chronic Dev Explains:
“Using this agglomeration of your crash reports and our ninja skills, Chronic Dev group is able to quickly pinpoint vulnerabilities in various programs by using the identical techniques that Apple currently working on. Lastly, your data will aid in pointing which applications are the most vulnerable, so that we can focus our time and energy on these with laser-like intensity. And obviously, this will also avoid Apple from accessing all your valued data, just so they can the turn around and use it against you”.
If you are interested to join your hands with Chronic Dev in this work, you are at your own risk. Apple is probable already working on iTunes and Mac OS X security updates to combat this move from Chronic Dev. We does not take a stance on jail breaking, hacking or this software, we are just reporting the news.

More Confirmation on Apple capitalizing in Sharp plant for iPad 3 display
The Wall Street Journal bids their own sources that confirm apple will be using Sharp as a source of display parts for the upcoming iPad 3.
"Apple Inc. is adding Sharp Corp. as a maker of screens used in the next-generation iPad, people familiar with the situation said Thursday, as the U.S. consumer electronics company moves to diversify component suppliers for its products."
According the sources, Apple will also contributing in Sharp’s panel manufacturing factories in Japan to confirm it can get enough supplies for its iOS devices.
Sharp is already been supplying the iPhone panels and is also thought to supply panels for the next iPhone that is also due next year.
As Sharp revealed many times by various rumors as a new source of iPad screens for Apple. The recent report got from analyst, says that production of iPad 3 screens was already underway and included LG, Samsung and Sharp.
Just on Wednesday, another analyst reported that Sharp may actually be supplying Apple with specially designed screens for the iPad 3. According to that report, Apple and Sharp have developed a new technology to allow a thinner high resolution display for the next iPad. Finally, Sharp may also be involved in Apple's television set plans, also supplying parts for that project as well.
Leaked Photos shows Brazil-made 8 GB iPhone 4 with custom model number
A set of newly leaked photos depicts an 8GB iPhone 4 made by Foxconn in Brazil and allegedly bearing a localized model number.
While the 8 GB iPhone 4 is not expected to go on sale in Brazil until the arrival of iPhone 4S in the country, MacMagazine.br has suspected early photos of the device from a reader. At the back of handset as we see the words “Brazilian Industry” in Portuguese, as well as the stamp of approval from ANATEL, Brazil’s telecommunication agency.
Apparently the iPhone 4 came with iOS 5.0 installed and carries a model number, which ends with “BR”, probably it indicated the device was manufactured in Brazil. The disclosure comes at last month’s release of factory documentation for an 8 GB iPhone 4 allegedly from Foxconn’s services in Brazil. Soon after the expose, Apple announced that the 8 GB iPhone 4 beside the iPhone 4S.
The Foxconn, apple’s manufacturing partner is said to be seeing an investment as large as $12 billion on production services in Brazil. But, the report we got at September it was clear that the negotiation between the company and the government have stalled due to disparities over tax rates, ad hoc infrastructure and the absence of qualified workers.
The minister Brazil for Science, Technology and innovation, had already said that the first iPad formed by Foxconn in the country would arrive in December. A "reliable source" told MacMagazine.br that "Made in Brazil" 8GB iPhone 4 units are also expected to hit the local market in December. Distribution will reportedly start in Sao Paulo, Brasilia and other major capitals first before gradually expanding to other cities in the country.
Localized Foxconn production of Apple products in Brazil may help the company circumvent sizable tariffs on imported electronics. After tax, some of Apple's devices in Brazil cost more than double their original retail price.
If the company's products arrived on the Brazilian market without import taxes, Apple's sales in the country could see rapid growth. Apple revealed last quarter that sales in Brazil had jumped up 118 percent year over year to pass the $900 million mark.

Apple Adds and Removes a monthly subscription iPad gaming from Apple Store
Big Fish games with a monthly subscription plan got dumped by apple under circumstances currently unknown.
Apple has removed their subscription-based iPad gaming app named Big Fish Games from app store days after its introduction for iOS devices.
The monthly subscription plan proposed by Big Fish included unlimited game play for iPad users with monthly reoccurring fees, the fees initially set to $7 or Rs 350 per month. The game offered here for download is all the popular games coming from this brand.
This subscription based model actually been available since last week, although new subscription had been disable from iTunes app store ahead of the official launch due to high demand, according to the developer and related agencies are still in the search of Apple's reasons for removing the app.
Whatever the reason might be, but still there are quite a few subscription model based apps accessible on apple iTunes store and are been successfully running, this may makes it a little more difficult to the reason behind the application has removed from the store.
Although Big Fish upset with apple’s decision is in the process of announcing a similar app for the Android users also and will be announcing it in the first quarter of the coming year.

Apple’s patent for GPU Power Control.
No: 20110267359 is the new patent number from Apple for systems for hot plug GPU power control. This is the new number appearing on the US patent and Trademark Office. It clearly highlights that Apple is keenly working on managing the graphical processors for Macs and iOS devices.
As per the patent, systems are embedded with an electronic device that has multiple GPUs. They also have a GPU power control process which takes care of the switching between the GPUs. Now this electronic device is connected to an external display with the help of a passive or an active adapter. When connected to an active adapter, the GPU power control process uses hot plug functionality to establish the connection between the external display and the active adapter and also give proper switching response.Let’s have a look at Apple’s background and a little in detail about this invention. Most of the electronic devices consist of a display screen to display the user interfaces. May it be watching a video, or displaying any application. This process of displaying is powered by a GPU processor. This processor drives an internal display and sometimes an external display as well.
Some of the devices may contain more than one GPU where one or the other may drive the external display. In such devices, a manual intervention might be required to switch between the GPUs. But this process completely ruins the exact idea behind GPU’s resource switching capability. Moreover, it not necessary that the user switches the exact GPU for the exact display. An electronic device may contain a primary GPU, a secondary GPU and also a physical storage media. This storage media would detect whether the first GPU is active and switch to it to provide output to the external display if it’s not active. Based on this indication, one or the other GPU always remains active.

How the iPhone4S Piles up with the Best of the Rest
The first thing that you will notice about the iPhone 4S is just how familiar it looks. If you never turned it on, you would not see a single difference between it and its predecessor. Apple may have added three more megapixels to the iPhone’s camera, but that’s just about the least interesting, and certainly the least important part of the 4S camera upgrade.
The big news is threefold. Lens, sensor tech and processing hardware. The A5 system-on-a-chip in the iPhone 4S turns out to contain dedicated image-processing hardware. This is similar to the “processing engines” found in regular cameras, such as Nikon’s EXPEED and Canon’s DIGIC. This hardware makes the camera a lot faster. While we’ll have to wait to test it in real life, demos show that the camera performs at the speeds of a compact, not a phone. It snaps photos faster and gets them on-screen and ready to see a lot quicker. I Phone 4S also brings world phone capabilities. This means that each iPhone 4S sold has the hardware to handle both CDMA and GSM networks. So if you’re on a US CDMA network, and visit Europe, you can buy a pre-paid SIM card for a local GSM network, pop it in your iPhone, and avoid roaming fees.
Tips to extend your iPhone 4S battery life
iPhone 4S the trend setter on the Smartphones world, as the release of iPhone 4S was the record and its massive popularity has created a great success for Apple. But as the growing iPhone 4S consumers are complaining about their brand spanking new iPhone 4S’s battery draining out in just a couple of hours on standby.
iPhone 3G/4 is having 300 hrs of standby, while Apple rates the battery inside the iPhone 4S as having up to 200 hrs of standby. That by itself seems a huge setback to the battery backup. More over some of the iPhone 4S adopters have reported that their 4S battery dies even in an 8-hour workday schedule.
If you have got your iPhone 4S and distress the same iOS 5 battery annoyance, check the below tips which may help:
- Turn off anything you reckon unworthy and are not constantly used.
a> Bluetooth: It is low-powered one in iPhone 4S.However, leaving it on will surely suck the battery out.
b> Wi-Fi: when you are not connected to a particular network turn it off.
c> Location services: Apple’s use of location services is deeply integrated into the iPhone 4S and iOS, but some others have suggested that is consuming too much battery power. Just launch settings> location services and browse through the various apps using the iPhone’s location. The option to turn it off for some apps but not others is there for a reason; use it.
d> Setting time zone: It appears that ‘Setting Time Zone’ function in iOS 5 can lead to a good number of power drain because the device is repeatedly polling the user’s location in order to set the time zone based on their current location. If you’re not in travelling, just switch it off. Tests have been made on different iPhone models, and all have reported drastically improved battery life after switching “Setting Time Zone” off. Users that have turned off the Time Zone feature, as well as many other location functions of the phone, have reported vastly improved battery life on the iPhone 4S as well as other iPhones that have upgraded to iOS 5. To disable this functionality, go to the Settings, to Location Services, System Services and turn off the ‘Setting Time Zone’ option.
e> Vibration: if your iPhone is on vibration and you constantly receive calls, messages and alerts then it will drain the battery. So turn it off to save your battery.
f> Cellular Data: if your cell reception is not good anywhere, you can turn off cellular Data when not required. Turn it off in settings by selecting general and then network.
g> Push Data: Checking new mails through the push data feature may be quite convenient, but even that causes a loss of battery life. Turn it off in setting, selecting mail, contacts, and calendars then fetch new data.
h> Notifications: Calendar in the notification center has been reported to suck the phone battery life. Turn off specific or all app notifications in the notification center to enjoy a longer battery life.
- Re-Add email accounts: Some of the iPhone users have reported that removing their email accounts and re-adding them has also helped. Delete email accounts (Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Account Name > Delete Account), and then re-add email accounts (Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account)
- Reduce Brightness of screen: keep your screen little bit dimmer because the brightness requires more battery.
- Get your auto lock sooner: To remain your battery life better set your iPhone to automatically go to sleep and there is a feature called “Auto-lock”
- Keep Your iPhone 4 Cool: iPhone 4 battery drains quicker when it gets hotter. Keep the phone out of the sun and/or heat. Don’t keep your iPhone in your pocket or any other tight spaces. It will help to keep your iPhone for cool and extend your battery life.
- Try Charge Cycle: Be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month: charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down.
- Buy an Extended Life Battery Case: Battery Cases and Portable Solar Chargers are highly recommended. Battery cases will add extra battery life to your iPhone 4 along with protecting it. While, charging your iPhone through solar chargers is also a practical and environmental solution for you.
IPhone4S with the Same Shape, Different Brain
The changes to the iPhone 4S are easy to document - the camera has been upgraded to 8MP (with an improved aperture ratio), the CPU is now the same dual-core A5 processor as seen in the i Pad 2, and a seven time increase in graphical processing power.
Apple has slightly changed the design of the iPhone 4S somewhat though, by changing to a dual-band aerial design, making sure it doesn't encounter an embarrassing repeat of antenna-gate we had to endure with the iPhone 4.
The camera’s controls also get an upgrade on the 4S. You can now pinch-to-zoom in the camera app, and it will detect up to ten faces and adjust the exposure accordingly. The A5 processor also gives the camera a boost, as you can have the camera app open and ready much faster than ever. In my tests, I was able to go from a locked state, with the screen off, to having snapped a photo in just over three seconds (iOS 5′s new lock screen camera controls also help with this). Shots can be taken in near-rapid fire secession too.
The iPhone 4s, however is perfect for those waiting the most seamless, hassle free, simplified smartphone experience. In typical Apple fashion, it emphasizes simplicity, user-friendliness, and slickness over brawn, customizability or cutting-edge download speeds. Aside from the aforementioned screen girth and data speeds, the iPhone 4S also offers performance that matches or outweighs any top-of-the-line Android phone (at least for now).
Iphone4S-The Best Smartphone Selling in the World
The new iPhone 4s has a new operating system - the iOS 5, a better camera, a new A5 processor, 1080 HD video with real-time video capability, a CMDA+GSM chip, Infinity Blade 2 and a download speed that is seven times better than the iPhone 4. As far as the quality of pictures from the iPhone's camera is concerned, the iPhone 4S does give one the luxury of high-definition photographs, courtesy its 8 megapixel camera. The iPhone 4 comes with only a 5 megapixel camera. The new iPhone 4S comes with dual antennas. This means that the phone is capable of switching from one antenna to another, depending on which signal is stronger. This is a great help and a jump from the iPhone 4 and the antenna issues that plagued its release. This will also mean a more solid internet connection and really improves the devices standing in this area which is an important leap forward.
Although Apple claims the iPhone 4S to be the “most amazing iPhone yet," most tech analysts feel it doesn’t look like anything more than a sequel or, at best, a revised version of its predecessor, the iPhone 4.
IPhone 4S ad puts focus on Siri
Apple’s first TV advert for the iPhone 4S has been revealed, with the focus of the spot being on Siri, the company’s digital personal assistant. The thirty second clips – which you can see after the break – cuts between multiple possible uses of Siri, the voice recognition system being used to find local locksmiths, check weather reports and adjust calendar entries, all by naturally-phrased commands.
It understands what you say.
Talk to Siri as you would to a person. Say something like “Tell my wife I’m running late.” “Remind me to call the vet.” “Any good burger joints around here?” Siri does what you say, finds the information you need, and then answers you. It’s like you’re having a conversation with your iPhone.
The iPhone 4S has a much faster CPU, a much faster GPU, a much better camera, a highly advanced voice-AI system like nobody has ever seen, better battery life, an improved antenna, international GSM roaming ability on CDMA-locked phones, a 64 GB option, and better carrier availability. It is extremely likely to become the best-selling smartphone in the world.

IPhone 4s-The king of Smartphones
IPhone 4s is a part of the royal family. Even without the 4G and without the big screen, this phone’s smart voice assistant, Siri, the benefits of i OS 5 and its spectacular camera make it a top choice for everyone. IPhone 4s brings healthy improvements to an already excellent device. Finally the iPhone owners finally get a 64GB model and a better camera, dual-core processor delivers more speed and Siri the iPhone4s personal assistant adds a new and sassy experience. It inherits all the standard iPhone features including the calendars, voice memos, stock maps and weather. It has an iPod player also and 4S splits the music and video libraries into two different icons. It also offers an upgrade to Bluetooth 4.0.
The most eye-catchy and touting feature is the new voice assistant-Siri. It follows commands and answers to your requests for information. The 5 Megapixels camera offers auto focus, flash, backside illuminated CMOS sensor that allows 73 percent more light than the previous sensor and should deliver better low light performance. The A-5 processor has a built-in image processor that adds face detection and 26 percent better auto white balance. And Through iOS5, you get choices for cropping and rotating the shots, red-eye detection and a single tap color correction option.
Few Facts about iPhone 4S Battery Life.
The all new iPhone 4S is indeed an amazing invention by Apple. The dual-processor A5 chip and the most awaited SIRI app have added to the glory. But now the only one drawback that has been noticed lately is that the battery backup doesn’t come to the expectations of the customers. The iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS had a battery backup time of 300 hrs. But there’s been a gradual decrease in the battery lifetime with the release of iPhone 4S.
Experts believe that there might be 2 important reasons behind the swift battery consumption of iPhone 4S. One is the fact that it’s been blessed with a dual-processor A5 chip that happens to be a strong contender for grasping more power. The second one is the introduction of the SIRI app that’s a kind of new app to the smart world. No one can actually predict the impact of such an app on the battery life of an iPhone 4S. So it’s doubtfully another reason for the drain out of power backup. According to Schiller, an essential part of Apple, with such a powerful processor inside a super thin phone, what you expect of course compromising on the battery lifetime.
Though the issue of the poor battery lifetime still persists, no major reforms have been made in this field by Apple thus posing a threat on the brand royalty and of course the release of iPhone 5 by next year.
Is SIRI creating a Security threat to iPhone 4S?
SIRI of course offers you a smart and intelligent way to interact with your iPhone. It’s one of the advanced features that recognizes your speech and responds in a friendly manner. Well battery power is not the only thing here that’s getting sacrificed for using this elegant feature. Questions are actually raising eyebrows as to how safe can your iPhone be, through such an application?
It’s been noticed that SIRI is capable of accessing a whole lot of functions from your iPhone without even entering the passcode. Reports indicate that SIRI has been changing calendar appointments, writing text messages and sending emails without even entering the passcode that adds the security for your iPhone. But Apple is a bit concerned about the issue and has already come up with the solution through iOS 5. So now make sure that SIRI doesn’t entertain a stranger or doesn’t accept his voice commands instead of yours. Just follow these basic steps to restrain the unauthorized access.
Navigate to Settings > General > Passcode Lock> SIRI > OFF. This will make your smart app completely available to you. By default, SIRI is enabled in your iPhone even if you set a passcode lock. Unless and until the settings are changed to switch off SIRI, an external access is very much possible.
Well, the reality lies with Apple whether why such a problem remained unnoticed. For those who give extreme importance to the security issues, this remedy must be of great relief.
