Analyst Says That App Store Holds 85-90% Share Of Mobile App Dollars

Apple has often promoted that how much money has been paid out to developers selling apps via App Store. Scott Fostall announced the latest pronouncement that Apple had paid out 3 billion dollars for app sales during the iPhone 4s introduction. Fostall has made a point when sharing these totals that is developing an iOS app is more profitable for developers than other platforms, most markedly Android.

According to Piper Jaffrey analyst Gene Munster, Apple commands 85-90 % of mobile app dollars, with Google’s Android market place generating just 7 percent of the gross revenue of the App Store. Munster foresees that Apple will continue to hold more than 70 percent of mobile app dollars going further.

He also says “Apple developers have made more than $3.4 billion since the App Store opened, compared to Google developers”. The Google developers have just made $240 million then how can it compete to apple. As with all analyst estimates, these numbers should be taken with a little cynicism but compared to all accounts App Store has a tremendous success.

New Nano SIMs: The Secret behind your thin iPhone5

Apple was one of the first handset making companies to bring forward the microSIM format. Apple had introduced this thinnest technology in its latest version of iPhone 4S. Reducing the size of a normal SIM to half of its size has worked wonders for the new iPhone. Now Apple is getting prepared to dive deep into the concepts of Nano SIM to bring the technology into the future phones, especially to the upcoming iPhone 5.

The German company, G&D, which had created the world’s first SIM Card, the Nano SIM, is the creator for this one as well. It is even smaller and thinner version of the one that was created for the initial iPhones namely iphone 4 and iphone 4S. The Nano SIM is also 15% thinner and is fully backwards compatible with an adapter.

With the new generation opting for the thinnest of all the devices, every single component of the iphone counts. They are the ones that make it the most stunning and also thinner devices leads to better battery lives as well. Since Apple has a history of bringing in the latest of the latest technologies to the market, no surprise if the Nano SIM gets its new avatar: The iPhone 5.

A Crazy Gamer?? Your iPhone could do the rest

Gaming has always been a pleasure but to know the real procedure becomes a bit tactic, especially when you use your keyboard panel to find the directions. Pressing on “W” might take you forward and a “D” might move you to the right. How to “Reload” the game would be another dilemma. Really confusing. Isn’t it? Wish you had an integrated joystick in your device to make things easy. Your prayers have been answered. Now you can turn your own iPhone into a game controller with joypad. Between the hardcore gamers who can go up to any extent to get expensive gaming controllers for them and gamers who are perfectly fine using the good old keyboard, lies the users who are gradually losing interest in the gaming field and just want an easy access to play the games.
Appstore gives you an easy access to a number of applications where you can control your computer with your iPhone. But they usually make you work on a virtual keyboard or on your mouse. Joypad offers you a cool solution for this.  You can download an app on your computer and your iPhone and can control it by using the iPhone joypad. Joypad can also be used with a video game emulator installed on your personal computer.
This app, by default comes with controller configurations for certain games like Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), Nintendo 64 (N64), Super Nintendo (SNES), Arcade games (MAME), Gameboy Advance (GBA) apart from Portal 2 and Minecraft. This app is completely free for both your computer as well as your iPhone. The performance statistics indicate that there is no difference between button pressing and in game response. The feeling is just like as you are using the real controller. One of the major setback of the app is that when you are looking at your iphone the joystick feature works well but when you look away and just slide your fingers on your iPhone, you seem to be just sliding your fingers on a plane glass panel.

Finally a Native Gmail App for iPhone

Gmail is the popular one in mailing services, ever the original iPhone has released in 2007 there is a lack of this app. There was a talk that Apple wasn’t going to allow another mail app to their device and then it was a anxious association between Google and Apple. Later, still, other Google iPhone apps had come but not the official Gmail app.

Google is on the edge of launching their native Gmail app but in fact it has already submitted the review and waiting for its approval. Once it get approved it will be out soon. It is the great news to have it on our iPhone for couple of reason one will be that Gmail is awesome as it is popular and comfortable to use and the other is those who had already seen the app tells its cool implausible.

Google has a nice mobile web version of Gmail optimized for iPhone only for some time. Here, the bug is finally it is pushing all notifications. Conceivably the biggest issue with using it through the iPhone’s native mail client is that Gmail is not Push-enabled. Fair enough, you can hack it to work through exchange but here you may lose other functionality such as ability to star messages via flags.

The native Gmail app will probably to bring other functionality as well priority inbox and one-click starring messages. Here, the other possibilities include some of following stuff that Google is about to roll out for Gmail proper such as contact icons, deep searching functionalities and better threading. We may see even Google+ integration also. But the strange thing is Google doesn’t have the great track record with iOS apps, there will be often full of bugs again they have indicated this as good one.

The native Gmail app although appeared stunning in design, it lacked basic elements like push notifications and users faced errors while logging into their accounts, it crashed often and users reported numerous bugs. So Gmail app has removed from iTunes for now because there is a bug in the app which broke all notifications. Let’s hope that Google gets the bugs fixed in the Gmail app and returns to the Appstore soon, hope we don’t want wait for long time before it released again.

Apple Not Planning To Bring Siri To Older Versions.

Apple made a recent declaration stating that as of now, it has no plans to put the latest intelligent feature, SIRI, to any of its old devices. As per an email received by Apple insider, that responded about the bug report, Apple clearly mentioned that, they are going to keep SIRI exclusively for iPhone 4S as of now. SIRI works wonders with the all new iPhone 4S and doesn’t seem to be a match with the older versions.

SIRI was launched last month with the release of iPhone 4S and since then has been in news for its outstanding voice recognition system and for delivering the best of the search responses. Apple also reminded that this unique feature is still in its beta stage following the widespread concerns about the new phone.

Experts believe SIRI to be one of the finest features that has led to the ultimate sale of the iPhone 4S. But this announcement has not discouraged the jailbreak hackers from bringing a successful version of the app to the older devices like iPhone 4 and fourth generation iPod touch.

SIRI has also been considered a definite threat to the extreme search engine, the Google. As per Eric Schmidt, Google’s chairman, SIRI could pose a threat to Google with its advanced and quick response methodologies.

Apple’s SIRI to compete with Google

The all new SIRI app from the latest iphone 4S is considered to be the smartest and the most intelligent apps of all times. The app had proved itself in delivering all sorts of required information about anything and everything and that too without displaying any sort of advertising or taking too much of time. This has created a clean completion among this app and the other search engines online, especially Google which is considered to be the best available search engines. Unlike the search engines, SIRI won’t annoy you with the advertisements that keep popping up all the time and will get you the exact information without having to search for the exact response.

If users get accustomed to the use of SIRI, just verbal communication would mean a lot rather than going for the Google website, typing the query and waiting for the response that might definitely take a little bit of time. This is no doubt going to keep the competition high as more and more people would prefer an iPhone rather than Google. Moreover whenever you clicked on a Google ad, it would have made money and would have given you a huge list of search topics which again you need to filter out to get the exact result.

SIRI on the other hand, would completely relieve you from the ad phenomenon and would give you only precise and required information. So SIRI is certainly treated as a better option over Google and other search engines. As per a small study conducted among the iphone4S users, most of them admitted to the fact that SIRI had an upper hand over Google search engine. There were people who hadn’t been face to face with the search giant since the day they got their iPhone 4S. The striking thing is that SIRI even gets you the Google website if asked to do so.

Technology always keeps growing and it’s always about the survival of the fittest. Till yesterday Google was a stiff competitor for all the other search engines but now SIRI has spelled its magic and created a new era of verbal response system.

Apple’s patent for GPU Power Control.

No: 20110267359 is the new patent number from Apple for systems for hot plug GPU power control. This is the new number appearing on the US patent and Trademark Office. It clearly highlights that Apple is keenly working on managing the graphical processors for Macs and iOS devices.

As per the patent, systems are embedded with an electronic device that has multiple GPUs. They also have a GPU power control process which takes care of the switching between the GPUs. Now this electronic device is connected to an external display with the help of a passive or an active adapter. When connected to an active adapter, the GPU power control process uses hot plug functionality to establish the connection between the external display and the active adapter and also give proper switching response.Let’s have a look at Apple’s background and a little in detail about this invention. Most of the electronic devices consist of a display screen to display the user interfaces. May it be watching a video, or displaying any application. This process of displaying is powered by a GPU processor. This processor drives an internal display and sometimes an external display as well.

Some of the devices may contain more than one GPU where one or the other may drive the external display. In such devices, a manual intervention might be required to switch between the GPUs. But this process completely ruins the exact idea behind GPU’s resource switching capability. Moreover, it not necessary that the user switches the exact GPU for the exact display. An electronic device may contain a primary GPU, a secondary GPU and also a physical storage media. This storage media would detect whether the first GPU is active and switch to it to provide output to the external display if it’s not active. Based on this indication, one or the other GPU always remains active.

Apple gives a nod to the Battery Drain problem; confirms a major fix.

All the speculations about the battery drainage problem have been confirmed finally by apple itself and it has also promised a swift fix for all the prevailing issues. The low battery problem has been in news since the release of the new iPhone 4S. It happens even while running the basic applications. Apple wants to rectify the problem soon with the launch of a new update.

As per the statistics, a small number of people have experienced problems with lower than expected battery life. While the issue will be solved within a span of few weeks, for the iphone lovers the duration is going to be a bit long. But experts say that by upgrading the processor and OS, adding the smart Siri and altering the display and not including the perfect battery for all these apps could affect the longevity of the phone. A similar complaint was made with iPhone 3GS where the culprit was the sluggish battery.
Apple’s new update might definitely give boost to the battery life. But the question will always be evident that whether just a software update can make a big difference.

Apple’s iTV: The Future of Home Entertainment.

Apple’s iTV, one of the impending dreams of Steve Jobs appears to be the lone creation of Apple’s TV product. In his Biography released lately he has mentioned about an “Integrated Television Set “and that he had cracked some major issue with it. Experts and analysts have been predicting the arrival of Apple into the home entertainment field in a big way. But till the real thing happening around, Apple will have to get contented with Apple TV, a set top box, which is modest in functionality. The system hasn’t caught much attention since the marketing done for this particular product was pretty less when compared to the other Apple products. Jobs even referred this one as a “hobby”.
If Apple is seriously looking forward to enter the drawing rooms of consumers through this product, then the aim is going to be awesome. It might give a new view point, different from the cable services being delivered. So the very idea of Apple entering the entertainment media raises a lot of excitement. In the latest iOS launch, Apple raised a new technology called Airplay that included “mirroring” between Apple TV and any iDevice. This technology allows the transfer of information from your mobile device to your television. That would certainly mean that both the devices would be able to interact with each other and would run the same application at a time. Guess the TV options have become vast all of a sudden. Apple is turning the device in your hand into a huge display screen in your room. All the functionalities are already available on the portable devices, then why not try it on a larger display?
If Apple succeeds in doing so, it will completely change the dimension of the home entertainment media. Now you can have the channels tuned to your interest without having to skip through the numerous channels to get something of your interest.

Gmail official iOS app has released and then pulled back from Appstore

An official Gmail app for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch is now available in the Appstore. Gmail is one of the popular mailing services in the world, it has lot of features and now it has arrived to your iOS devices. It works with the notification systems built into iOS devices alerting with a sound and pop up if you desired. A new search feature will allow you to find older emails. Gmail’s threaded conversation concept on your iPhone will allow you to rapidly scan through many conversations to find the one you want to read and respond to - a real time saver.

There is an option based on device that iPhone users can have fun in one click access to their camera to take a shot, while in iPad version you can enjoy with split screen views to read emails and to check inbox concurrently. The app although appeared stunning in design, it lacked basic elements like push notifications and users faced errors while logging into their accounts, it crashed often and users reported numerous bugs.

So Gmail app has removed from iTunes for now because there is a bug in the app which broke all notifications. Google said that “Earlier today we launched a new Gmail app for iOS. Unfortunately, it contained a bug which broke notifications and caused users to see an error message when first opening the app. We’ve removed the app while we correct the problem, and we’re working to bring you a new version soon. Everyone who’s already installed the app can continue to use it.”

Let’s hope that Google gets the bugs fixed in the Gmail app and returns to the Appstore soon, hope we don’t want wait for long time before it I released again.

Tips to extend your iPhone 4S battery life

iPhone 4S the trend setter on the Smartphones world, as the release of iPhone 4S was the record and its massive popularity has created a great success for Apple. But as the growing iPhone 4S consumers are complaining about their brand spanking new iPhone 4S’s battery draining out in just a couple of hours on standby.

iPhone 3G/4 is having 300 hrs of standby, while Apple rates the battery inside the iPhone 4S as having up to 200 hrs of standby. That by itself seems a huge setback to the battery backup. More over some of the iPhone 4S adopters have reported that their 4S battery dies even in an 8-hour workday schedule.
If you have got your iPhone 4S and distress the same iOS 5 battery annoyance, check the below tips which may help:
  • Turn off anything you reckon unworthy and are not constantly used.
a>     Bluetooth:  It is low-powered one in iPhone 4S.However, leaving it on will surely suck the          battery out.
b>    Wi-Fi:  when you are not connected to a particular network turn it off.
c>     Location services:  Apple’s use of location services is deeply integrated into the iPhone 4S and  iOS, but some others have suggested that is consuming too much battery power. Just launch settings> location services and browse through the various apps using the iPhone’s location. The option to turn it off for some apps but not others is there for a reason; use it.
d>    Setting time zone: It appears that ‘Setting Time Zone’ function in iOS 5 can lead to a good    number of power drain because the device is repeatedly polling the user’s location in order to set the time zone based on their current location. If you’re not in travelling, just switch it off. Tests have been made on different iPhone models, and all have reported drastically improved battery life after switching “Setting Time Zone” off. Users that have turned off the Time Zone feature, as well as many other location functions of the phone, have reported vastly improved battery life on the iPhone 4S as well as other iPhones that have upgraded to iOS 5. To disable this functionality, go to the Settings, to Location Services, System Services and turn off the ‘Setting Time Zone’ option.
e>    Vibration: if your iPhone is on vibration and you constantly receive calls, messages and alerts   then it will drain the battery. So turn it off to save your battery.
f>      Cellular Data: if your cell reception is not good anywhere, you can turn off cellular Data when    not required. Turn it off in settings by selecting general and then network.
g>     Push Data: Checking new mails through the push data feature may be quite convenient, but even that causes a loss of battery life. Turn it off in setting, selecting mail, contacts, and calendars then fetch new data.
h>    Notifications: Calendar in the notification center has been reported to suck the phone battery life. Turn off specific or all app notifications in the notification center to enjoy a longer battery life.
  • Re-Add email accounts:  Some of the iPhone users have reported that removing their email accounts and re-adding them has also helped. Delete email accounts (Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Account Name > Delete Account), and then re-add email accounts (Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account)
  • Reduce Brightness of screen: keep your screen little bit dimmer because the brightness requires more battery.
  • Get your auto lock sooner: To remain your battery life better set your iPhone to automatically go to sleep and there is a feature called “Auto-lock”
  • Keep Your iPhone 4 Cool: iPhone 4 battery drains quicker when it gets hotter. Keep the phone out of the sun and/or heat. Don’t keep your iPhone in your pocket or any other tight spaces. It will help to keep your iPhone for cool and extend your battery life.
  • Try Charge Cycle: Be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month: charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down.
  • Buy an Extended Life Battery Case: Battery Cases and Portable Solar Chargers are highly recommended. Battery cases will add extra battery life to your iPhone 4 along with protecting it. While, charging your iPhone through solar chargers is also a practical and environmental solution for you.

iPhone 4S battery issues being resolved by Apple by contacting customers.

Apple Engineers have gradually started to give an eye towards the swiftly emerging issues mainly the battery issues of iPhone 4S. This has been an issue with great concern since iPhone 4S fans would never expect such a quality disaster from the technological giant. The iPhone 4S users list experiencing the shorter battery life is growing day by day.One of the users revealed that a senior engineer at Apple had directly contacted him regarding the issue and advised him to install a monitoring system to diagnose and identify the real setback with the iPhone. The monitoring program works for a period of 24 hrs after which he had to send the data file back to the engineer. According to the user, the concerned engineer was extremely helpful and of course apologetic. He even admitted that Apple was far away from finding out a real solution to the problem.

The iPhone 4S exhibits the same A5 Dual processor as the iPad 2 and has got a larger battery than the iPhone 4. It also supports a slightly increased talk time of 8 hrs. But that doesn’t seem to be valid reason for a 100 hr less stand by time. Another reason the experts have come up with is the new smart app in the iPhone, The SIRI, which might be leading to the exhaustion of the battery life.

China Telecom is the first carrier in China to launch the CDMA iPhone 4S

China Telecom is the number one carrier in China and it is the first carrier to launch iPhone 4S CDMA version in the February of next year. But the handset will be officially launching on Hong Kong on November 6 2011.According to a supply chain source the China Telecom carrier is reportedly ready to introduce about the launch in February but the release will possibly be postponed until the middle of the next year.

Forbes magazine quoted a UBS analyst said that the introduction of China Telecom’s iPhone 4S will further spread out the Apple device market share in the country and it also allow the carrier to achieve the high-end mobile phone market. This may push its wireless business up to a range.

Still many customers in China preferring iPhone 4 rather than iPhone 4S due to the large scale discounts given to the older device and more over there are few improvements seen in the new version. Apple has declared it in their Chinese website that” Sold out “of iPhone 4 after dropping the price of hand set.

As the official Chinese launch of the iPhone 4S approaches, the price of parallel imports of handset has dropped to almost half of its original tag price of about US$2000.

Bloomberg to stream on iPad: Now get the news on your finger tips.

The famous online business and financial channel, Bloomberg TV announced on Tuesday that it is going to broadcast the 24hr channel through the iPad. Bloomberg has gone a step ahead by making available, their business reports and news on an iPad. This is considered as a new revolution in the media world since they have come up with something that the business media giants like CNN or ESPN haven’t brought about yet. Where CNN and ESPN are restricted to certain subscribers, Bloomberg has made their media available to all through their new iPad broadcasting system.

Things have been made easier for the viewers’ .Now instead of sticking on to their television screens; they will be able to watch the daily stock market updates and other relevant news on their iPad. Viewers can now have a look at the upcoming content on the left hand corner of your iPad screen and set reminders as well.
The app also comprises in itself, a library of on demand and soon to come contents. It contains videos that can be downloaded for later reference. It can also be shared via the social sites like twitter, face book etc and is designed in a manner that is easily accessible to the user. They can now retrieve any important news and information with ease. The users can also avail the facility of seeing the flash news on a running ticker at the bottom of the screen.

The release of this app has 2 major aims. The first and the foremost is to supplement the iPad with the Bloomberg TV experience and enable viewers to get more relevant information just with a tap. The secondary one is to make viewers come closer to this reputed media, Bloomberg even when they are not sticked on to their TV screens through the latest iPad revolution.

Currently, this app is available only on iPad. Oke Okaro, global head of Bloomberg mobile, has initiated steps to bring the feature to Android as well. But as of now iPad is the trend and therefore the app has restrained itself to iPad.

Do you want Siri on Apple TV?

We have pretty good telivision technologies which can complete with Hulu Plus, Netflix, Youtube apps and many more but we should click a dozen times  on a remote button  to get what we want to watch at the right time. Even if we are having lunch or dinner at the front of TV we will be more conscious on changing the channels. It takes much time of ours neither we eat proper nor we saw our favorite program peacefully.

If we have an assistant for TV to change our TV programs how good it would be then we could simply tell out TV what we wanted to see, when to pause or when to turn the volume down? Sometimes your kids may hide the TV remote then you will be searching for that. What if you have Siri on your TV? Then you can ask Siri whatever you want?

Steve Job’s biography has mentioned that he was working on the TV interface toward the end of his days. He said “I’ve finally cracked it” but we never know what “it” is. Recently New York times have revealed that “it” is voice activated TV-using Siri, intelligence baked into the iPhone 4S.

Even The Times’ Nick Bilton has used up one year probing around the story of Apple TV whether it is launching the own TV set rather than just the Apple TV box. He had two conclusions on this story that if Apple TV set is coming and it’s just a question of when? His second conclusion is that Siri is going to be the main interface. He is expecting the Apple TV set may come early in 2013.

To control this TV whether you have to own an iOS device or TV will have an ambient microphone which is good enough to pick up voice commands. Apple likes to give you reasons to buy more Apple products but there are no cases in point in which you are forced to buy one to manipulate another one. For requiring a $200-plus remote, the company wanted to avoid being scoffed at them.

People who’ve had a FaceTime chat on iPad 2 know that Apple Microphone Technology has evolved. It will likely work from access your TV room; it picks up sound with astounding clarity. But then how would you pull up the Siri interface on the screen in the first place? By calling her name, perchance? Or will Apple provide a remote after all, with a single button that calls up Siri?

Both sound like elegant solutions. But if it’s all the same to Apple, we’d rather not have another gadget that can get lost down the back of the couch, even if it is a clicker with one button.

iPhone 4S: Siri’s Surprising and Funny Answers.

Siri is the most amazing feature in iPhone 4S, whatever you want just talk to Siri; it will get the things done. No need to type for messages, composing emails, sends a text, connecting call, and gives you information what you are looking for. Siri is a personal assistant to you. It sends a voice message also.
