Smart Siri Plays Piano too

We’ve seen Siri do nearly everything imaginable, but did you know that Apple’s virtual assistant is also a musician? The Yamaha Disklavier can be controlled by Siri, as demonstrated in the above video.

Siri takes a song from your iPhone’s Music library and sends it through an Airport Express to then get analyzed and played perfectly by the piano. Hey, it’s a lot easier than learning the piano yourself, right?

Yamaha explained the way this setup works to The Loop
Take a standard MIDI songfile and convert it to an audio file (while maintaining the MIDI data). The songfile is then sent wirelessly via WiFi to an Apple Airport Express (which is mounted underneath a Yamaha Disklavier reproducing piano. The audio output of the Airport Express is then connected to the analog MIDI inputs of the Disklavier, using a standard audio cable.

Then, you simply ask Siri to play your favorite song from your iTunes library, and Siri responds immediately, by making the Disklavier’s keys and pedal move up and down, recreating the performance, including full orchestration.

Isn’t it a cool smart phone..!

iOS developers: Less than 24 hours to submit apps for the holidays

Apple welcomes Christmas apps for these holidays every year, with countless iOS devices being handed out this Christmas, Apple’s App Store is going to seek a heck of a lot of business. It’s in your best interests, than, if you are an iOS developer, to have your apps in the App Store and ready for sale before Apple shuts down for the holidays. You now have less than 24 hours to submit your app before it’s put on hold until January.

Apps submitted for review later than Tuesday December 20, 2011, will have to wait until Apple returns from Christmas vacation in January for approval, which means they will miss one of the App store’s busiest periods. If you are just updating an existing app, either to quash bugs or add new technology, you have until Thursday, December 22.

And you’d be incredibly naive to think that a few days won’t make much of a difference to your sales. The New York Times reports that one developer, who typically sales around 300 downloads a day, did incredibly well on Christmas Day last year:
One of his apps is an air hockey game that costs 99 cents and usually averages about 300 downloads a day. But on Christmas Day last year there were 1,834.
That’s quite a difference, especially if you’re an independent developer who may be submitting your first iOS app. Even if it means working through the night, then, get your app in before Apple goes home tomorrow.

Google planning to compete with Apple’s iPad

Remember the Motorola Xoom tablet, Google’s first attempt to compete against Apple’s iPad? It was only a bad dream. Google Chairman Eric Schmidt is now promising a purely Android tablet “of the highest quality” in six months.

Schmidt’s comments to the Italian newspaper Corrier della Sea (Slash Gear has a report in English) follows the 2010 release of Motorola’s Xoom tablet.
What’s different this time? The new tablet is in the “Nexus” category of devices using pure Android. The Motorola Xoom used Honeycomb, a tablet-centric version of Android. The Nexus tablet Google is forecasting will use “Ice Cream Sandwich,” a version of the mobile software combining both Honeycomb and Gingerbread. The Gingerbread variant of Android is aimed at Smartphones. Last month, the Galaxy Nexus smartphone was unveiled using Android “Ice Cream Sandwich.”
What’s behind the push for a Nexus tablet? Perhaps it is the success Amazon is experiencing with the Kindle Fire. The Amazon tablet is powered by a heavily modified version of Android which links to a number of services offered by the online retail giant. Google would likely prefer the first successful Android-based tablet be one that includes features tightly woven into the Mountain View, Calif. Company’s family of products, such as Gmail and others.
The Nexus tablet will become a litmus test for how well Android can transfer from Smartphones to tablets. There have been numerous flame-outs by Android tablets with HP’s defunct Touchpad likely the most spectacular. A key problem for iPad alternatives is that all tablets are measured against the Apple device. I’ll buy anything, as long as it operates and looks just like an iPad, is an often-heard response from consumers.

Explosion at Pegatron’s iPad 2 back panel plant, should not affect production

Reuters shares some bad news from a Pegatron plant in Shanghai, China. There has been an explosion and due to that 61 workers were hurt. 23 of the 61 hurt are said to have been hospitalized and the fire caused “some” damage to the plant’s machinery. Reuter’s says that this is an Apple plant and the report sources a claim from China’s Yi Cai Daily that says this specific plant will be producing iPad 2 back panels.

The interesting part here is that this plant-which Pegatron says is not yet fully operating, will be producing parts for a product which is rumored to be refreshed in 3-4 months. While Pegatron says “it could make adjustments to the facility to minimize the impact on operations and revenue,” China’s Yi Cai Daily is saying that if the surrounding safety concerns are not dealt properly, Apple supply chain may see some negative affects next quarter.

Digitimes says Apple to begin producing 7.85 Inch iPads in Q2 2012

According to Digitimes, Apple will begin the production of a 7.85-Inch iPad in Q2 2012. Apple will reportedly begin selling the smaller iPads prior to Q4 2012, but will also sell another iPad in Q1 2012, presumably the iPad 3.

Digitimes had published that “Apple is likely to launch a 7.85-inch iPad prior to the fourth quarter of 2012 in addition to a new iPad scheduled to be released at the end of the first quarter, according to sources in the supply chain.

In order to compete with Amazon’s Kindle Fire-which has been selling very well, Digitimes says their sources say Apple has been persuaded to manufacture the 7.85 inch tablet to compete.

However, in order to cope with increasing market competition including the 7 inch Kindle Fire from Amazon and the launch of large –scale smart phones from handset venders, Apple has been persuaded into the development of 7.785 inch iPads, the sources indicated.

LG Display and AU Optronics will reportedly be the manufacturers for the 7.85 inch   panels and will hit the supply streams in Q2 2012. This isn’t first time that we have heard of smaller iPad, as it’s been in the rumor-mill for quite some time. More iPad 3 rumors have also been popping up over the last few months.

iPad 3 parts leak as rumored 2012 release comes closer

As the rumored early 2012 iPad 3 release draws closer, Cydia Blog discovered a part for the iPad 3 on TVC Mall’s website. What you see above is apparently a replacement part for the microphone on the iPad 3, and shows some pretty major changes compared to the iPad 2′s microphone — namely the shape. The apparent dock connector and ribbon cable for the iPad 3 also leaked this summer. Cydia Blog reports:

The new part, when compared with iPad 2, shows a different arrangement in internal circuitry, hinting a major re-design. The tail end of the part makes a “U-turn”, whereas the iPad 2′s Microphone Mic Flex Cable makes almost 90-degree turn both ways. Except for few details, the leaked part so far doesn’t offer a tantalizing tease.

The iPad 3 is rumored to launch early 2012 — maybe February — with a rumored higher res display and thicker form-factor. Other specs are rumored to be a dual-mode wireless chip for CDMA and GSM, Apple’s A6 processor, and more RAM. Citi’s analyst Richard Gardner says he’s heard from sources that a February launch is coming, but some have pointed to mid-summer. The updated mic form-factor above could point to pretty major internal changes. It should be worth noting, however, that manufacturer replacement parts aren’t always in the final version.

Next iPads to arrive in 3-4 months, parts being delivered now

Digitimes tonight reports that next generation iPads are expected to be available in the next 3-4 months as manufacturers in the supply chain have started delivering parts and components for the new tablets to OEM contractors while reducing those prepared for iPad 2.  The report follows a Citi Analyst last week who said that “several sources” have confirmed the next-gen iPad will launch in February saying, “there do not appear to be any significant technical hurdles remaining”.
Current production of iPad 2 will reportedly remain high at 14-15 million units in Q4 2011 but tail to 4-5 million units in the first quarter of 2012 as anticipation for the next iPad grows and inventory is cleared out.
Meanwhile, Foxconn Electronics will begin to produce the next-generation iPads in January and to ramp up the production volume starting February, according to a Chinese-language Commercial Times report, which quoted Kevin Chang, an analyst of Citigroup Global Markets, as indicating.

Production of the new iPads is expected to reach 9.5-9.8 million units in the first quarter of 2012, estimated sources in the supply chain. Sales of iPad products totaled 25.06 million in the first three quarters of 2011 and are likely to reach 40 million units for all of 2011, the sources estimated.
The next generation iPad is expected to have a Retina display, a faster A6 processor- possible Quad Core, be slightly thicker than the current model…

In November there were several reports pointing towards a slightly thicker, but higher res design, while DigiTimes claimed around the same time that Apple was working on a dual-LED backlighting system as an alternative for an iPad 3 with Retina display and suppliers had already begun shipping panels for the device. Shortly after reports from DisplaySearch analyst Richard Shim backed up reports that production of panels for iPad 3 retina displays has begun.

iOS 5.1 roundup: referenced for new iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, minor tweaks

Yesterday was iOS 5.1 day, and it was the news all about related to the release of new beta. Customers would not find any extra new features in the operating system, but this release was precious for those who are interested in the iOS hardware future. Here is out summary of the new devices found in iOS 5.1:

-The Sixth-generation iPhone:

Situated deep inside the file system of iOS 5.1 is a reference to an iPhone 5,1. As clarified yesterday, the jump from 4, 1 to 5, 1 represents a huge leap and of course a major internal change which means that iPhone 5/6 would come with a brand new processor. The expected external changes would be a 4 inch display with a new aluminum casing. The A6 in all prospects.

-The iPad 3 and new iPad 2:

Situated deep inside the file system is a reference to a new-generation iPad, the third iPad 3 model, possibly a carrier dissimilarity, known as iPad 3,3. The more interesting with an iPad 2,4 reference is  an updates to iPad 2 that is either a carrier variation, a GSM+CDMA dual-mode device, a Sprint iPad 2, or something wholly new.

- The next Apple TV:

The iOS release says that as a product in development moves even faster to launch, it has been assigned with a proper codename. Just not only an identifier like “3,1” but also assigned a codename such as N94 (iPhone 4S) or K48 (original iPad). The next-generation Apple TV moved to that step. Thanks to beta release of iOS 5.1, we have codename in our hands for this new Apple TV(3,1). Upcoming Apple TV to feature low-power Bluetooth 4.0 technology opens door to new, more advanced input devices.

New user Features:

There is hardly anything noticeable save for iTunes Match streaming over 3G and tremendously minor keyboard enrichment in the iOS Mail application. Apple is also more open about geo-fencing (such as in Reminders.app) in the location services preferences.

Apple outs new iPad (iPad 2,4) in iOS 5.1 firmware (update: 3,3 as well)

Just after the immediate release of beta iOS 5.1, Apple has outed yet one more new device. A moment ago we fetched you the first references to the future, faster Apple TV internally dubbed 3,1, and now we have iPad 2,4 on our hands. With reference to the iPad 3,1 and iPad 3,2- the new iPads going to launch in the upcoming year, probably in the month of march- having appeared months ago, we are thinking this iPad 2,4 might be the Sprint version, which the Apple currently finished work on – but only if it has WiMAX. A 3G-only Sprint iPad would be the same hardware as the Verizon iPad. Additional options contain an iPad for China’s TD-LTE, an early LTE model or a dual-mode device like the current iPhone 4S. The rumored March iPad 3 release approaching so we will know soon.

Update: iPad 3,3 found as well,

More Confirmation on Apple capitalizing in Sharp plant for iPad 3 display

The Wall Street Journal bids their own sources that confirm apple will be using Sharp as a source of display parts for the upcoming iPad 3.

"Apple Inc. is adding Sharp Corp. as a maker of screens used in the next-generation iPad, people familiar with the situation said Thursday, as the U.S. consumer electronics company moves to diversify component suppliers for its products."

According the sources, Apple will also contributing in Sharp’s panel manufacturing factories in Japan to confirm it can get enough supplies for its iOS devices.

Sharp is already been supplying the iPhone panels and is also thought to supply panels for the next iPhone that is also due next year.

As Sharp revealed many times by various rumors as a new source of iPad screens for Apple. The recent report got from analyst, says that production of iPad 3 screens was already underway and included LG, Samsung and Sharp.

Just on Wednesday, another analyst reported that Sharp may actually be supplying Apple with specially designed screens for the iPad 3. According to that report, Apple and Sharp have developed a new technology to allow a thinner high resolution display for the next iPad. Finally, Sharp may also be involved in Apple's television set plans, also supplying parts for that project as well.

Low-Power Retina Display is coming in thinner iPad 3?

We all knows that iPad 3 is coming very thinner as of it will be another breaking news from Apple when it is released.  But the rumors of a high-resolution 2048X1536 display for the iPad 3 have been flow for some time now; however the new display’s effect on the devices from factor is still up for some debate. As of Apple announces that iPad 3 will be thinner than ever but it will be approximately 0.7 mm thicker than the iPad 2 due to the need to incorporate a dual light bar system for the higher-resolution display.

Apple has been working on resolutions of that size in versions of their iOS applications that we have already seen a proof from it. Most recently, background images of exactly 2048x1536 were found in early builds of iOS 5. In comparison, the current iPad carries a resolution of 1024x768. The iPad 3 is expected to be released sometime in the first half of 2012.

The analyst's source is indicating that Apple will continue to use in-plane switching (IPS) technology for the new display. Although a new report from Jeffries analyst Peter Misek and shared by Forbes claims that IPS is not used by Apple in iPad 3. In fact it has invested $500 million to $1 billion in new equipment to allow sharp to produce the required displays using technology permitted a thinner and lower-power design.

We believe that Apple and Sharp together have a modified IGZO (indium, gallium, zinc) technology to achieve 330 dpi which is sufficient for an HD display, while neither using IPS nor having to include dual-bar LED back-lighting. In our view, this should lead to several design advantages, namely the device can be thinner, battery life should be longer, and the overall experience for users should be meaningfully improved. Mikes also noted that Apple and Sharp working together on display for an Apple television set.

How the iPhone4S Piles up with the Best of the Rest

The first thing that you will notice about the iPhone 4S is just how familiar it looks. If you never turned it on, you would not see a single difference between it and its predecessor. Apple may have added three more megapixels to the iPhone’s camera, but that’s just about the least interesting, and certainly the least important part of the 4S camera upgrade.
The big news is threefold. Lens, sensor tech and processing hardware. The A5 system-on-a-chip in the iPhone 4S turns out to contain dedicated image-processing hardware. This is similar to the “processing engines” found in regular cameras, such as Nikon’s EXPEED and Canon’s DIGIC. This hardware makes the camera a lot faster. While we’ll have to wait to test it in real life, demos show that the camera performs at the speeds of a compact, not a phone. It snaps photos faster and gets them on-screen and ready to see a lot quicker. I Phone 4S also brings world phone capabilities. This means that each iPhone 4S sold has the hardware to handle both CDMA and GSM networks. So if you’re on a US CDMA network, and visit Europe, you can buy a pre-paid SIM card for a local GSM network, pop it in your iPhone, and avoid roaming fees.

IPhone4S with the Same Shape, Different Brain

The changes to the iPhone 4S are easy to document - the camera has been upgraded to 8MP (with an improved aperture ratio), the CPU is now the same dual-core A5 processor as seen in the i Pad 2, and a seven time increase in graphical processing power.
Apple has slightly changed the design of the iPhone 4S somewhat though, by changing to a dual-band aerial design, making sure it doesn't encounter an embarrassing repeat of antenna-gate we had to endure with the iPhone 4.
The camera’s controls also get an upgrade on the 4S. You can now pinch-to-zoom in the camera app, and it will detect up to ten faces and adjust the exposure accordingly. The A5 processor also gives the camera a boost, as you can have the camera app open and ready much faster than ever. In my tests, I was able to go from a locked state, with the screen off, to having snapped a photo in just over three seconds (iOS 5′s new lock screen camera controls also help with this). Shots can be taken in near-rapid fire secession too.
The iPhone 4s, however is perfect for those waiting the most seamless, hassle free, simplified smartphone experience.  In typical Apple fashion, it emphasizes simplicity, user-friendliness, and slickness over brawn, customizability or cutting-edge download speeds. Aside from the aforementioned screen girth and data speeds, the iPhone 4S also offers performance that matches or outweighs any top-of-the-line Android phone (at least for now).

Iphone4S-The Best Smartphone Selling in the World

The new iPhone 4s has a new operating system - the iOS 5, a better camera, a new A5 processor, 1080 HD video with real-time video capability, a CMDA+GSM chip, Infinity Blade 2 and a download speed that is seven times better than the iPhone 4. As far as the quality of pictures from the iPhone's camera is concerned, the iPhone 4S does give one the luxury of high-definition photographs, courtesy its 8 megapixel camera. The iPhone 4 comes with only a 5 megapixel camera. The new iPhone 4S comes with dual antennas. This means that the phone is capable of switching from one antenna to another, depending on which signal is stronger. This is a great help and a jump from the iPhone 4 and the antenna issues that plagued its release. This will also mean a more solid internet connection and really improves the devices standing in this area which is an important leap forward.
Although Apple claims the iPhone 4S to be the “most amazing iPhone yet," most tech analysts feel it doesn’t look like anything more than a sequel or, at best, a revised version of its predecessor, the iPhone 4.

IPhone 4S ad puts focus on Siri

Apple’s first TV advert for the iPhone 4S has been revealed, with the focus of the spot being on Siri, the company’s digital personal assistant. The thirty second clips – which you can see after the break – cuts between multiple possible uses of Siri, the voice recognition system being used to find local locksmiths, check weather reports and adjust calendar entries, all by naturally-phrased commands.
It understands what you say.
Talk to Siri as you would to a person. Say something like “Tell my wife I’m running late.” “Remind me to call the vet.” “Any good burger joints around here?” Siri does what you say, finds the information you need, and then answers you. It’s like you’re having a conversation with your iPhone.
The iPhone 4S has a much faster CPU, a much faster GPU, a much better camera, a highly advanced voice-AI system like nobody has ever seen, better battery life, an improved antenna, international GSM roaming ability on CDMA-locked phones, a 64 GB option, and better carrier availability. It is extremely likely to become the best-selling smartphone in the world.

IPhone 4s-With an Intelligent Assistant that Helps Get Things Done. All You Have To Do Is Ask:

The iPhone is a line of Internet and multimedia enabled smartphones designed and marketed by Apple Inc. Well, iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s look very identical but apple made number of changes under the hood to improve on performance, including a faster processor, a more advanced camera and a new antenna design. IPhone4 s features an A-5 dual core 1GHz Processor and 5 Megapixels camera with anti-focus delivers better low light performance. It is a dual-band phone, supports both GSM and CDMA. The iPhone 4S will debut with all the features of iOS5, which is Apple’s latest version of its operating system.

iPhone 5 release date comes after iPad 3, as iOS 5.1 looms this year

The recent product from Apple is iPhone 4S with amazing features that magnetizing the Apple fans. With the iPhone 4S out the door then the topic will pass on to the question of iPhone 5 that when iPhone 5 will find its release date?  Only two things of iPhone 5 are known with any degree of confidence. It will arrive within the first three quarters of 2012 and it will arrive sometime after the iPad 3, which also won’t arrive until next year. That leaves iPhone and iPad users with only iOS 5.1, a medium significance software update to the newly released iOS 5; to look forward to before the year is over. Apple won’t be springing anymore new hardware on the market before 2011 is over. That leaves all eyes on next year for the launches and revisions of several new Apple products. Beyond merely the iPhone 5 and iPad 3, users are gazing at the launch of the iPod touch 5, Apple TV and more… have a look below  at the timeframe for the iPhone 5 release date and beyond.

iPad 3: Apple’s history says you can expect this one in march 2012. In order to give it a major speed boost Apple may incorporate the next gen A6 processor into the iPad 3, with scatter reports pointing to the A6 not being ready until summer. But Apple got quite a bit of negative feedback from users for pushing the iPhone upgrade cycle back to sixteen months this year instead of the usual twelve, perhaps more backlash than the company might have expecting. This could prompt Apple to push forward with the iPad 3 in its publicly expected March timeframe with or without the A6.

iPhone 5: This release date is the most mysterious of the bunch. By waiting sixteen months to replace the iPhone 4 and then doing so with the same- iPhone 4S, it’s no longer clear what Apple’s iPhone roadmap looks like. With the 4S selling very well for now, Apple could opt to wait till summer 2012 However, if the iPhone 5 is ready sooner and if 4S sales drop off, Apple could fire up the 5 sooner. Just don’t expect it before April. iPhone 4S sales are too strong for now for Apple to even consider a January or February rush-launch, and if the iPad 3 occupies March on the calendar, that means nothing on the iPhone front before April. Even that’s optimistic right.

iPod touch 5: Apple punted by launching a white version of the iPod touch 4 in lieu of any actual internal or external hardware changes, most probably saving the iPod touch 5 until the iPhone 5 is ready. It’s a quite safe bet to expect them at the same time.
Apple TV: Apple has often used its fall iPod event to launch the latest Apple TV, but there was no movement on that front at this month’s iPhone event. Various speculations has Apple eventually moving into actual television sets, making the “Apple TV” set top box perhaps on the way out. But there’s no timeframe on these supposed television sets, so Apple TV could indeed see another new generation in the mean time. There’s no clear indication when that would happen, however.
iOS 5.1: The only remaining Apple product which can be expected in 2011, iOS 5.1 will deliver a slew of minor revisions to iOS 5 including features Apple didn’t quite finish in time for the original release and

A Short Brief about iPhone 4s

Businesses around the world are choosing iPhone for its enterprise-ready features and influential security. IPhone 4s has the best performance with improved camera clarity and broader carrier compatibility. With a new technology Siri, it is an evolution of the siri, virtual assistant. Well, Siri can do a huge number of things, from sending texts and emails to finding restaurants and getting directions from one place to another. It is the best enhanced ability to understand casually spoken English mixed in with the notion of context that sets this apart. Siri is very smart enough to figure out, what the user want exactly. Apple is quite popular with iPhone4s because of its camera clarity and the speed improvements for bringing up the camera. IPhone 4s is actually quite heavier than iPhone 4, with an increase weight from 137 grams to 140 grams. It comes with a faster processor, a better camera, a smarter virtual assistant and twice the storage of its predecessor. IPhone 4s revealed a new battery pack that just a wee bit bigger than that found in the iPhone 4, so the promised increase in longevity and bigger and heavier batteries. The iPhone 4S does everything better than the iPhone 4, but it simply doesn't do anything substantially different.
