Explosion at Pegatron’s iPad 2 back panel plant, should not affect production

Reuters shares some bad news from a Pegatron plant in Shanghai, China. There has been an explosion and due to that 61 workers were hurt. 23 of the 61 hurt are said to have been hospitalized and the fire caused “some” damage to the plant’s machinery. Reuter’s says that this is an Apple plant and the report sources a claim from China’s Yi Cai Daily that says this specific plant will be producing iPad 2 back panels.

The interesting part here is that this plant-which Pegatron says is not yet fully operating, will be producing parts for a product which is rumored to be refreshed in 3-4 months. While Pegatron says “it could make adjustments to the facility to minimize the impact on operations and revenue,” China’s Yi Cai Daily is saying that if the surrounding safety concerns are not dealt properly, Apple supply chain may see some negative affects next quarter.

Apple outs new iPad (iPad 2,4) in iOS 5.1 firmware (update: 3,3 as well)

Just after the immediate release of beta iOS 5.1, Apple has outed yet one more new device. A moment ago we fetched you the first references to the future, faster Apple TV internally dubbed 3,1, and now we have iPad 2,4 on our hands. With reference to the iPad 3,1 and iPad 3,2- the new iPads going to launch in the upcoming year, probably in the month of march- having appeared months ago, we are thinking this iPad 2,4 might be the Sprint version, which the Apple currently finished work on – but only if it has WiMAX. A 3G-only Sprint iPad would be the same hardware as the Verizon iPad. Additional options contain an iPad for China’s TD-LTE, an early LTE model or a dual-mode device like the current iPhone 4S. The rumored March iPad 3 release approaching so we will know soon.

Update: iPad 3,3 found as well,

Apple’s next-generation Apple TV moves closer to reality, assigned J33 codename

The iOS release says that as a product in development moves even faster to launch, it has been assigned with a proper codename. Just not only an identifier like “3,1” but also assigned a codename such as N94 (iPhone 4S) or K48 (original iPad). The next-generation Apple TV moved to that step. Thanks to today’s beta release of iOS 5.1, we have codename in our hands for this new Apple TV(3,1).

As the above figure shows, the new Apple TV is rocking the J33 codename, the second JXX product we have seen from Apple. First was the J2- a new iPad – which we revealed last week. Apple’s iPad 2 is just about reached the peak of Apple’s KKK options with CDMA version called as K95, so Apple’s move to JXX terminology is somewhat that would have to happen sooner or later. With Apple newly beefing up their leading tablets and phones with dual-core A5 chips, we consider this new Apple TV signifies an A5 dual-core model, which packs in 1080 playback capabilities. As to whether this thing has a display on it, it is too early for us to tell.

Siri Dictation comes to iPhone 4, jailbreak required

The Siri Dictations feature that is presently exclusive to Apples’ latest iPhone version, iPhone 4S- along with Siri- can now be used on the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPod touch 4G. The developer Eric Day has launched a new jailbreak package named Sirious, which will be available via a Cydia repository, and will permit user to easily get Siri Dictation working. As you can notice in the video clip above, Sirious works exactly like Siri Dictation would on the iPhone 4S, but miserably it does have ads. This tweak usages Nuance’s technology, but it is cool on the other hand.
At the same time, developers are still working to bring a Siri port to the iPhone 4, and have previously come up with some pretty cool custom use cases. If you already have iPhone 4 jailbreak this would not be a bad thing to check out.

Leaked Photos shows Brazil-made 8 GB iPhone 4 with custom model number

A set of newly leaked photos depicts an 8GB iPhone 4 made by Foxconn in Brazil and allegedly bearing a localized model number.

While the 8 GB iPhone 4 is not expected to go on sale in Brazil until the arrival of iPhone 4S in the country, MacMagazine.br has suspected early photos of the device from a reader. At the back of handset as we see the words “Brazilian Industry” in Portuguese, as well as the stamp of approval from ANATEL, Brazil’s telecommunication agency.

Apparently the iPhone 4 came with iOS 5.0 installed and carries a model number, which ends with “BR”, probably it indicated the device was manufactured in Brazil. The disclosure comes at last month’s release of factory documentation for an 8 GB iPhone 4 allegedly from Foxconn’s services in Brazil. Soon after the expose, Apple announced that the 8 GB iPhone 4 beside the iPhone 4S.

The Foxconn, apple’s manufacturing partner is said to be seeing an investment as large as $12 billion on production services in Brazil.  But, the report we got at September it was clear that the negotiation between the company and the government have stalled due to disparities over tax rates, ad hoc infrastructure and the absence of qualified workers.

The minister Brazil for Science, Technology and innovation, had already said that the first iPad formed by Foxconn in the country would arrive in December.  A "reliable source" told MacMagazine.br that "Made in Brazil" 8GB iPhone 4 units are also expected to hit the local market in December. Distribution will reportedly start in Sao Paulo, Brasilia and other major capitals first before gradually expanding to other cities in the country.

Localized Foxconn production of Apple products in Brazil may help the company circumvent sizable tariffs on imported electronics. After tax, some of Apple's devices in Brazil cost more than double their original retail price.

If the company's products arrived on the Brazilian market without import taxes, Apple's sales in the country could see rapid growth. Apple revealed last quarter that sales in Brazil had jumped up 118 percent year over year to pass the $900 million mark.

Update: Apple Gained Control over Porn iPhone-Related Domain Names

Apple had filed a complaint earlier this month on Porn Site Operator under the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) in an try to gain control over iPhone related domain names which has been registered by one more party and set to hand over to a porn site. Most important to notice among these domain names is iPhone4S.com, the highest profile domain associated with Apple’s new iPhone hardware.

Now the Apple has got control over the domain name in question, as the UDRP has been ended following the defendant’s agreement to turn the domains over to Apple. Apple ended the case soon after the domain owner agreed to turn the domain name over. The whois record for the domains changed to brand protection company MarkMonitor today:

MarkMonitor is the brand protection agency used by several large companies including Apple to anonymously manage such holdings as domain names. A note for our readers is, the domain names in question continues to forward to the porn site at this time, as the site continues to point to the previous owner's DNS server settings and only the various contact information fields for the site are appearing under MarkMonitor at this time.

When the case was filed the domain ownership information was protected by whois privacy. This was later removed to disclose an Israeli company owned the domain names.

The seven domain names are:

iphonecamforce.com
iphonecam4s.com
iphoneporn4s.com
iphonesex4s.com
iphonexxxforce.com
iphone4s.com
porn4iphones.com

I would not suppose Apple to resolve any of these seven domain names, except iPhone4S.com,  [update: some readers have pointed out that the names still forward to the porn sites. The nameservers still point to the old source, so Apple/MarkMonitor needs to change these ASAP.]

iPhone 4S quickly jumps to second-most popular camera phone on Flickr

Just a month before released Apple’s latest handset iPhone 4S now become the second-most popular camera phone on photo sharing website Flickr, behind only its predecessor, the iPhone 4.

The latest handset iPhone 4S passed up its older siblings iPhone 3G and also iPhone 3GS, and the only Android phone on the market, HTC EVO 4G. iPhone 4 still preserves a sizable margin on its successor, though that gap is, of course, likely to shorten in coming month.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 4 endures to reign as the most standard camera in the community of Flickr, monitored by digital SLR cameras from Nikon ad Canon. Apple’s fourth generation handset considered as best-selling handset took the top spot quite a few months ago.

Indeed apple has pleased photography enthusiast with their latest handset iPhone 4S, has features to upgrade to 8-megapixels, a face detection feature, a high-end infrared filter, full HD 1080p video recording with image stabilization. By the recent shootout by ArsTechinica revealed that the iPhone 4S is a convenient great alternative to digital cameras.
As photography on Apple's iPhone has grown ever more popular, even prompting the creation of a new word -- "iPhoneography," some analysts have begun to speculate that the device could heavily disrupt the digital camera market in addition to the mobile phone industry. Market research firm IHS iSuppli suggested last summer that shipments of digital cameras will fall as consumers turn to smartphones and tablets such as the iPhone and iPad. Cisco's Flip video cameras have already become an early casualty.

The iPhone 4S is poised to smash Apple's previous iPhone sales records this quarter. The device already got off to a hot start, with four million sold in its first weekend. Analysts believe the company could sell as many as 29 million iPhones in the December quarter, though those estimates include a mix of iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 units as well.

IPhone 4S Demand Remain Strong; Stores selling out daily

The iPhone 4S is remains huge demand, with report from pair of research, that 85% of the apple stores plotted ran out of stock each day. But seemingly their stock is being refilled every day, so that those customers who are left with empty handed are able to make a choice to pick one up the next day. This way the demand for iPhone 4S remained strong around the world. In Hong Kong, made available for preorders and were sold out within 10 minutes. Preorder order has also launched at last Friday in South Korea, with over 200,000 phones all being sold on the first day. The only language available is on English, French, and German, and with Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Italian and Spanish coming soon.

The comments got from Verizon, a spokeswoman said that, the demand contuse to build for iPhone 4S. The Country’s biggest wireless carrier said is been working with Apple to increase inventory.

Apple is expected to sell at least 28 million number of iPhones in this quarter, and that is said to be a conventional estimate. In fact how many phones are sold is may depend on how many iPhone constructors can make. It seems that nothing matter how fast they turn them out, demand may exceeds the supply.

Fly Smasher: Free iPhone/iPad Game to test your swiftness

Wanna get deeply involved with a game that can make you extremely addictive and attached to it? Well the latest buzz around is the all new Fly Smasher…Just smash it!!!

It’s a free iPhone/iPad game that evaluates the response time of the gamer. The game basically focuses on your retorting capability as to how swift your fingers can move along with your intellect. The aim is to identify a particular class of enemies, tap to kill them and gain maximum points possible. But the scoring is not that easy as you encounter another class of insects that shouldn’t be harmed at all or else will make you loose points. Now here is how the game moves.

With fly smasher, what you need to concentrate on is to protect your food from the attack of type “A” flies and avoid the killing of type “B” flies. You are given a total of 3 lives. If you miss the flies in these 3 chances, the game ends. The killing of type “B” flies reduces your life.Let’s have a quick look as to how the game has to be played.

  1. As mentioned earlier, Type A flies shouldn’t be allowed to reach the food and should be smashed by tapping on them.
  2. Type B flies shouldn’t be killed.
  3. Game starts with an offering of 3 lives and ends completely if you run out of these 3 lives.
  4. You gain points only with the killing of type A flies and loose points with the killing of type B flies.
  5. A bonus of 100 points is rewarded when you smash 10 type A flies continuously without a miss.
Get Bonus with constant Killing!!!

The game also offers you bonus points. If you kill 10 type “A” flies continuously, a bonus of 10 points is rewarded.

Enjoy the Different Modes.

There are various playing options in this game as per the need and speed of the user. The user can select from the following options.
  1. Classic: The game remains the same with a small difference that bonus lives are provided every one  minute. Killing of B type flies decreases your life.
  2. Extreme:  Here bonus lives are provided every 2 minutes, speed of the flies also increases and       smashing the type B flies ends the entire game.
  3. Kids: A very simple mode created just to entertain the kids. Here the bonus lives are provided every 30 seconds .Speed of the flies will be minimal and killing of type B flies doesn’t decrease lives or end the game. Instead 10 points get deducted from your overall score.
  4. Adventurous: The worst case which puts a halt to all the bonus lives maximizes the speed of the flies and smashing of type B flies ends the game.
The Eliminators

The game also consists of these slayers that can be used to kill the type “A” flies. They are
  1. Strong Spray: Kills them instantly without giving much time.
  2. Mild Spray: Kills them slowly and the flies get little more time to reach the food.
  3. Electric Waves: Sends an electric shock that kills the flies.
The basic idea of the game is to check the synchronization of your fingers with your intellectual swiftness. Tapping the correct flies becomes a bit tactical job with the increase of each level. Keep your concentration level high and be on your toes to take a win over this game.
